The Innkeepers
Gerry and Karen Ruis have always enjoyed entertaining. They have always loved old homes—which led them to purchase this beautiful home in the fall of 2005.
In 2004, prior to purchasing the inn, Gerry and Karen attended training for being future Innsitters (that is the people who take care of an inn when the Innkeepers are away), but instead within a matter of months they owned their own bed & breakfast! Gerry and Karen really enjoy life as Innkeepers.
Gerry is a builder who owns and operates his own remodeling company called GK Ruis Building & Design. Having these kinds of skills comes in handy when owning a home that is 128 years old! Gerry is known at the inn as Mr. Innkeeper. He is very helpful in the kitchen and his cinnamon rolls are his specialty.
Karen is a lab tech by trade, but has done a number of interesting things besides, most recently owning a scrapbooking store before moving to Grand Rapids, MI. Karen loves to cook, bake, entertain and build friendships—the perfect kind of person to host you at the inn!
Karen and Gerry have 5 children, 2 great in-laws and 7 grandchildren. When you are at the inn, you can ask questions about any of these cherished people.
Karen and Gerry feel that the most rewarding part of owning the inn are the people they meet. So please come by and stay a while so they can share in your life experiences.

"I attended MANY scrapbooking weekends that were hosted by Karen and each was memorable and very special!"
